Free Injury Clinic

We are now offering a Free Injury Clinic for anyone that sustains an injury during times when we are not onsite at the gym.  The purpose is to be your gymnastics-specific “Urgent Care” by screening the gymnast and providing the appropriate referral as needed.  This could include an appropriate physician, our physical therapy services, or just advice.  If you wish to utilize this service, please call Talia at 412-303-9957 to setup an appointment.

The most important part of gymnastics is staying healthy

Gymnastics Injury Prevention Assessments are available

If you aren’t healthy, you can’t train, you can’t compete, and you can’t progress to the next level. Our goal is to stop injuries before they happen. We have developed an evidence based screen specific to the gymnast that looks at his/her posture, strength, flexibility, and skill execution. Your gymnast will learn about his/her body and what exercises he/she should be performing to target at risk areas.

ON-SITE PHYSICAL THERAPY IS AVAILABLE AT X-CEL:
WHAT TO EXPECT:

A gymnastics-specific musculoskeletal examination

Analysis of form, posture and movement strategies • Personal plan addressing biomechanical issues and risk areas

Referral to medical provider if necessary • Overall body alignment

Talia Trapuzzano Eubanks, PT, DPT, SCS, ATC

Talia personally developed the Gymnastics Performance and Rehabilitation Program in 2007 because of her experience as a USA Gymnastics level 10 gymnast in Pittsburgh, PA. She decided to become a physical therapist, initially, because of the various injuries she sustained during her gymnastics career, and the frustration of being unable to get care from people who were familiar with the sport.

Talia earned her bachelor’s degree in physical therapy from the University of Hartford in 1999 and her doctorate from Boston University in 2005. She pursued further sports medicine education by completing a sports medicine fellowship at the prestigious Steadman Hawkins Clinic in Vail, CO in 2000, and a sports physical therapy residency in Birmingham, AL in 2001. She is also certified by the American Physical Therapy Board as a Sports Certified Specialist. In addition, she is a Certified Athletic Trainer and Strength and Conditioning Specialist.

Talia has been involved with USA Gymnastics as a member since 2007. She has spoken at Region 7 Congress, as well as the Pennsylvania State Gymnastics Clinic. She previously worked on-site at two gymnastics clubs while living in the Harrisburg, PA area. She continues her work in the Pittsburgh area, staying involved with local gyms on and off site.
